A gallery wall works when the photographs feel connected and the layout relates to the furniture and wall, not when every frame simply happens to be filled.
Choose one connecting rule
- A consistent frame colour
- A shared family, travel or seasonal theme
- A limited colour palette
- The same print finish across the group
Build around one anchor image
Start with the largest or most important photograph, then balance smaller pieces around it. Mix portrait and landscape deliberately rather than randomly.
Use paper templates
Cut paper to the outside frame sizes, label each template and tape them to the wall. Check sight lines from normal seating positions before making holes.
Keep spacing consistent
A grid needs exact spacing. An organic arrangement can vary in size, but the gaps should still feel intentional. Measure twice and use a level.
