A successful pet gift needs visible eyes, a sharp face and a simple background. You do not need a professional camera; patient timing and soft daylight matter more.

Work at the pet’s eye level

Lower the camera instead of photographing from above. Focus on the nearest eye and use burst mode for brief expressions.

Use soft, even light

Face the pet toward a window or photograph outdoors in open shade. Avoid strong overhead sun and direct flash, which can create harsh shadows and eye reflections.

Make the crop product-friendly

Leave space around ears, paws and tails. Small gifts need a close, simple portrait; blocks and larger prints can include more setting.

Choose the strongest frame

  • Sharp eyes
  • Natural expression
  • Uncluttered background
  • No lead, hand or object covering the face
  • Original full-resolution file
